During our matriculation ceremony, we found ourselves sitting around for more than twenty empty minutes. Some people passed the time rather irreverently. (low quality video from a digital camera)

Dear Milan,

You look charming in your Oxford matriculation gown. I am so pleased to see you dressed to the level of your success. You looked like such a bum at commencement-- but there you are looking quite the part. I am glad to see you looking so dapper. Felicitations!

@Sparky

Thanks for the information on the water. I thought that dissolved minerals reducing the value of K (the equilibrium constant for the dissociation reactions regarding the tea) was probably the cause of my staining problem.

I do indeed have a binary clock, though not one that can survive on British power. It is in Vancouver, patiently awaiting my triumphant return as Milan Ilnyckyj, M.Phil (Oxford).

About the water... when visiting my aunt and uncle in Gerrards Cross, Bucks, I learned the water is infused with lots of chalk. Their tea pot was incredibly stained with tea and chalk residue. As Gerrards Cross is less than an hour's drive from Oxford, I am willing to bet there is some chalk in the water there as well, and that is likely what is causing the tea stains in your mug. If you have problems removing the stains, use a bit of baking soda to scrub at them. It works wonderfully.

PS - I'm glad you are using your caffine mug for its intended purpose... reading fuel.

@V.K.

It's certainly surprising.

@V

Are you V.K. (Vancouver), V.P. (Toronto), or someone I'm not thinking of? One mystery letter is quite enough for the blog.

The tie/gown combo is hot.

But it's the bagel that makes that photo awesome.
