Another fascinating example of a mechanical calculator is the &lt;a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curta_calculator" rel="nofollow"&gt;Curta&lt;/a&gt;. It also has an interesting (and fairly tragic) story behind it.</description>
