For that some should rule and others be ruled is a thing not only necessary, but expedient; from the hour of their birth, some are marked out for subjection, others for rule. Aristotle (ATS member) The Politics, On Slavery, c. 330 BCE
History
The formal life of the Most Esteemed Afternoon Tea Society began with a successful war prosecuted against the Alma Mater Society of the University of British Columbia. The Declaration of War (PDF) that began the conflict is available online.
Likewise, an Epic History (PDF), which lays out some of the accomplishments of the Society in the period before our formal establishment at UBC, as well as such dramatic episodes as the War of Locks and Keys, and subsequent legal judgment.
On September 7th, 2002 the famous 'Australia' meeting of the ATS took place. Thankfully, the minutes are available (PDF).
Also worthy of note was the awarding of the Afternoon Tea Society membership of a Standing Order of Summary Acquittal for the crime of Alarming Her Majesty by the Provincial Court of British Columbia.

Other Information
In order to help people better understand the organization, a short FAQ was prepared at one point: Afternoon Tea Society FAQ. The regulations listed are no longer in force, but the document has historical value.
The ATS was mentioned in the official information package given to undergraduates at UBC. The writeup included the following segment (note the message spelled by the first letters of each word): "Lofty organizations rally dashing, potently regal oligarchs. This combination transpires only rarely; most individuals lack all nobility."
Also potentially worth a look is an ATS related letter printed in The Point newspaper: ATS Point Letter. The letter was written in response to their September 25th cover story: "Time for Tea with the A.T.S." (Vol. 13, Issue 4).
The ATS was also mentioned in the December 2002 issue of Vancouver Magazine.
