This morning, I learned that I won Wadham College’s Senior Scholarship: “awarded on the basis of academic merit and postgraduate potential.” The award is £500, as well as including one meal a week at high table. It will make a good contribution towards my college and university fees for the coming year.
Having not eaten in hall since the first couple of weeks of this year, it will be good to do so once a week next year. It will certainly increase the degree to which I know the faculty here.

In the spring of 2005, I graduated from the University of British Columbia with a degree in International Relations and a general focus in the area of environmental politics. I worked for five years for the Canadian federal government, including completing the Accelerated Economist Training Program, and then completed a PhD in Political Science at the University of Toronto in 2023.

Yes, as far as I know, I am still in the running for the Centennial Scholarship, which is worth five times as much as the Senior Scholarship.

Wadham styles itself as being socialist, but in reality it has all the political energy of a half-salted slug. Even the ‘Queer’ Bop is laughably out of touch with any kind of real political dynamism.
