A beautiful curve

London sunset times, winter 2006 to summer 2007.

Sunset times for London, UK (51° 34′ N, 0° 7′ W) for the 25th of each month between December 2006 and August 2007. (Y-axis reversed)

I can’t speak for the rest of you, but I prefer to experience Mie Scattering well after 7:00pm, as well as more than twelve hours of Rayleigh Scattering each day, if possible.

  1. I will admit that I used the sunrise / sunset function on my Garmin 76 GPS receiver, rather than the formula linked above, to acquire the data points for the above graph.

It would probably have been quicker to use one of many websites, but it is better to keep in the practice of using what gear you own. That said, this is a better use for GPS hardware.
