M.Phil finished

Since I have not been summoned for a viva exam, it is safe to conclude that I passed all four of my final exams, as well as the thesis. While I won’t know how well I did for some time, I do know that I have finished the M.Phil in due time.

In the spring of 2005, I graduated from the University of British Columbia with a degree in International Relations and a general focus in the area of environmental politics. In the fall of 2005, I began reading for an M.Phil in IR at Wadham College, Oxford. Outside school, I am very interested in photography, writing, and the outdoors. I am writing this blog to keep in touch with friends and family around the world, provide a more personal view of graduate student life in Oxford, and pass on some lessons I've learned here.

  1. There is some chance you failed so badly that there was no viva…

    but that is not likely.

  2. The statement about the possibility of failure is accurate, which is why I cannot celebrate in total certainty yet.

Oxford certainly draws out the experience of finishing your degree.

  3. Congratulations!!! I am 150% sure you will have passed – I have no doubts there (about the impossibility of you failing).

So – are you likely to abandon this blog when you return to Canada? Please let me know the address of any new one, as I would love to know how you get on.

Congratulations, and best of luck for the future,

    Pippa

  4. I don’t think scrapping this blog is the plan – just being more circumspect in the future.
