Now back to grading

Masala Dosa with Amanda Lewis

Thanks to my family and my friends Andrea, Mehrzad, and Amanda, I had a very pleasant 33rd birthday, with kind and thoughtful gifts, lunch at Massey College, Masala Dosa (accompanied by a couple of Hive-LM games) for dinner, and raspberries.

In the spring of 2005, I graduated from the University of British Columbia with a degree in International Relations and a general focus in the area of environmental politics. Between 2005 and 2007 I completed an M.Phil in IR at Wadham College, Oxford. I worked for five years for the Canadian federal government, including completing the Accelerated Economist Training Program, and then completed a PhD in Political Science at the University of Toronto in 2023.

  1. If all goes well, this year will be the second-to-last one where birthday celebrations are intermixed with grading. The target is to finish the PhD by September 2019 and to have moved on to something else before I turn 36.
